Safety Rules & Waiver

AFRICA PLAYS: PARTICIPANT AGREEMENT, SAFETY RULES AND WAIVER

ATTENTION: THIS IS A CRITICAL LEGAL DOCUMENT. IT MUST BE READ AND FULLY UNDERSTOOD BEFORE ANY PARTICIPATION OR SIGNING.

1. ELIGIBILITY AND SUPERVISION

  • Adults (18+): All participants aged 18 and over must sign this agreement personally.
  • Minors (Under 18): Participants under 18 must have this form completed by a parent, legal guardian, or authorized representative.
  • Supervision Rule (Under 16): If you are supervising individuals under the age of 16, you accept full responsibility for their conduct. If you cannot ensure their 100% compliance with safety rules, neither you nor your accompanying minors may participate.
  • Supervision and Monitoring: Africa Plays provides trained Team members to monitor the activity zones and enforce safety rules, allowing parents and guardians to observe from the seating area. However, our staff does not provide one-on-one childcare. The ultimate responsibility for a minor’s conduct, adherence to rules, and overall wellbeing always remains with the parent or guardian. Africa Plays reserves the right to remove participants from activities and/or the premises at any time for lack of adherence to the safety rules.

2. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL FITNESS

  • General Health: You certify that you/the minor(s) are in good physical health and have no underlying medical conditions (e.g., heart, back, or neck problems) that could be aggravated by high-intensity activity.
  • Pregnancy: Participation is strictly prohibited for anyone who is pregnant.
  • Illness & Contagion: You must not participate if you feel unwell or exhibit symptoms of any contagious illness (e.g., COVID-19). If symptoms arise while onsite, you agree to leave the premises immediately.
  • Personal Assessment: Africa Plays does not assess individual ability. You must personally determine if the activities are suitable for you or the minors in your care.
  • Emergency First Aid/ Medical Treatment: Should the participant or minor sustain injury during the course of activities or while on the premises, Africa Plays is hereby authorized to administer first aid, administer over the counter medication or offer medical treatment by the safety officer or a medical practitioner. The participant authorises Africa Plays to engage the nearest health care facility should the participant’s condition warrant such advanced treatment, at the participant’s cost.

3. MANDATORY GEAR AND CLOTHING

  • Grip Socks: Africa Plays-approved grip socks must be worn at all times and may not be removed in activity areas.
  • Athletic Wear: Suitable and comfortable athletic clothing that allows free movement is required.
  • Prohibited Items: No jewellery, watches, electronic devices (phones/cameras), sharp objects, food, or medication are allowed in the activity zones.

4. GENERAL CONDUCT AND SAFETY RULES

  • Staff Instructions: The participant agrees to follow all staff instructions and safety signage without exception.
  • Safety Video: The participants and attendees MUST watch and give full attention to the safety video(s) before participating.
  • Respectful Behaviour: Verbal abuse or inappropriate behaviour toward staff or other participants will result in immediate removal without a refund.
  • Spacing & Contact: Physical contact is strictly prohibited. Maintain a safe distance from others and ensure your path is clear before moving.
  • Facility Rules: No running or racing in any part of the facility. No sitting, lying down, or resting within activity areas. Exit promptly when your session ends.

5. ACTIVITY-SPECIFIC SAFETY GUIDELINES

  • Trampolines: * Bounce and land only in the center of the trampoline. Do not bounce near edges or onto padding.
  • Landing: Land only on your feet, back, or bottom. Never land on your head.
  • Prohibited Moves: No “double bouncing” (two people on one trampoline). No double flips, gainers (reverse flips), or advanced acrobatics.
  • Airbags: Land only on your back or bottom. Do not land on your feet or head.
  • Climbing: Only allowed when properly harnessed and under the direct supervision of Africa Plays staff.
  • Equipment: The participant/s agree to check the safety of the equipment before use. The participant agrees not to throw equipment (except in dodgeball zones) or remove items (like pugil sticks) from their designated areas. The participant shall not climb or hang on equipment unless expressly allowed.

6. LIABILITY RELEASE AND WAIVER

  • Assumption of Risk: The participant acknowledges that the activities at Africa Plays involve inherent risks of serious injury, including permanent disability or death. The participant You/the minor(s) use the facilities entirely at your own risk.
  • Indemnity: The participant indemnifies Africa Plays any and all claims against Africa Plays for direct or indirect loss, damage, or injury and I voluntarily assume all such risks and accept full personal responsibility for any injury, loss, damage, claim, liability, or expense arising from my participation in the Event. The participant understands that such risks may arise from the actions of fellow participants, non- adherence to the safety rules or failure of the participant to act for themselves, Africa Plays will not be held liable except in the case of death or personal injury resulting from the Company’s proven negligence.
  •  Personal Property: The participant indemnifies Africa Plays any security, loss, or damage of any personal belongings.
  • The Participant shall exercise due care at all times when using the premises, equipment or any property of the facility. Any damage to the premises, equipment, or property arising from the Participant’s reckless or negligent use thereof shall be for the Participant’s account.

7. PRIVACY, CCTV, AND MEDIA CONSENT

  • CCTV: You acknowledge that CCTV is in operation for public safety and crime prevention. Footage is stored for up to 6 years.
  • Media Release: You grant Africa Plays consent to take photographs/recordings of you or the minor(s) for marketing and social media use without compensation. You may revoke this consent in writing at any time.
  • Personal Information: The participant is aware that certain personal information shall be collected by Africa Plays. the participant consents to such date to be collected and processed in accordance Data Protection Act.

FINAL ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND SIGNATURE

 By signing below, I confirm that:

 

  1. I have read, understood, and agree to all the Safety Rules and Terms above.
  2. I have watched and understood the Safety Video.
  3. I have watched participated and understood the Warm-Up Video.
  4. I accept full responsibility for my actions and the actions of any minors in my care.

Payment and the issuance of this receipt shall be deemed to be an irrefutable acknowledgement of having read and understood the terms and conditions of the agreement, the use of the premises and an appreciation of the inherent risks involved associated with participation in the Africa Plays activities.
